Surprise News: Five-star forward commits to Alabama….

Derrion Reid, a five-star forward, committed to Alabama on Friday, giving Alabama and Nate Oats an early Christmas present.

A 6-foot-7 forward from Georgia who is playing his senior season at Napa (Calif.) Productive Prep, Reid positions No. 17 broadly and made things official while home for Christmas break.

Reid told 247Sports, “I just felt like it was the best fit for me.” I like the way the game is played and how the coach builds his players up.
One of the more athletic frontcourt players in the class of 2024, Reid has fundamentally worked on his inside and out game over the course of the past year and had a fantastic summer in the Nike EYBL with Group Thad. He completes hurls, drives forcefully to the edge and is a hazardous shooter. At Alabama, he’s simply attempting to be a decent two-way player while ideally setting himself up to take one more leap in degree of play ultimately.

“I simply need to be an extraordinary player on the two sides of the ball and prepare to get to a higher level and have an extraordinary season.”
Reid is the third individual from the class of 2024 to pick Alabama. He joins secondary school colleague Aidan Sherrell and wing Naas Cunningham – – both four-star possibilities – – in a class that will currently move to No. 7 in the business produced Composite Group Rankings.

Recently, Reid said he was a lot of anticipating getting the interaction over with so he can channel all of his energy into planning for next season.
