Surprising News: Broncos looking for big break in ’24

Broncos Jesse Arthars, Deane Mariner and Tristan Sailor have swapped balls for the boards, heading out for a surf with current World No. 20 Callum Robson at Kirra Beach, on the Gold Coast.

Despite being the cousin of Cowboy Reece Robson, the World Surf League Championship Tour competitor was only too happy to pledge his Broncos allegiance for the day, to give the Broncos’ Gold Coast-based trio some tips.

It comes ahead of the NRL and WSL both launching their seasons in the US in the New Year.

They were also joined by fellow WSL surfers Jacob Willcox and Morgan Cibilic, as well as one lucky Broncos fan, who won the opportunity for the surf session through a consumer competition run across the 2023 Australian leg earlier this year through the WSL’s partnership with Bailey Ladders, which now also includes Weather Guard.

The iconic Aussie brand is also a partner of the Brisbane Broncos.

“It was cool to have some pro surfers showing me and the boys a thing or two in the surf, we definitely needed it,” said Arthars. “We all got a few pointers, which was good.

“We do a fair bit of cross-code work at the club, and we’re so thankful for opportunities like this and it’s great to have sponsors like Bailey Ladders that sponsor these Aussie sports, so it’s been a great day.”

“I’ve generally lived on the ocean front, so I’m dependably making the rounds.

“That is one reason other than growing up here, I like to hang out at the ocean side, out of the city – it’s great for the brain, it’s a decent way of life.

Robson, a Bailey Stepping stools Envoy hasn’t precluded being in Vegas for the NRL season opener, at present booked to be at Dusk Ocean side in Hawaii when the Horses show up in camp in Los Angeles, prior to going to Portugal for the Walk 6 competition.

“It’s marvelous, it’s great to see the young men from association descend, I’m certain they’re stirred up to have some time away from preparing and descend and partake in the waves,” Robson said.

They were actually very good, and it was classic to watch them get in the water. They all loved it. I figure they may be propelled to stall a load up and get out into it full-time.”

Arthars got back to Red Slope for preseason last week, hungry to expand on the energy from a breakout 2023 season heading into Cycle 1.

“I’ve just come back since Thursday however it’s been quite extreme.

“It (season 2023) was a major certainty support for myself, and it was likely my greatest season so I’ll seek expand on that for the approaching season and train hard in the preseason since that at last sets you up. The preseason competition will benefit from it.

“We’ve quite recently got to ensure we’re preparing great, I know the other young men will need to give a genuine decent show when we move past there.

Taking to the waves close by Sailor, Arthars has additionally reserved his colleague to stand up in season 2024.

“He’s a good young player coming through our ranks and has been really exciting the last few years, he really tears it up on the field during training so I’m looking forward to seeing Deano progress throughout the preseason and into the season.
