Shocking: Former Miami Hurricanes Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke Transfers to the

Tyler Van Dyke has committed to play football for the Wisconsin Badgers after four seasons as a quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes. On November 27, Van Dyke added his name to the transfer portal. He made his decision quickly.

He has played in 30 games for the Miami Hurricanes over the past three seasons. During that time, Van Dyke threw for 7,469 yards, 54 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions.

Before the Florida State game, his record as the starter was just 15-13, and he was replaced by Emory Williams, a freshman. After Williams broke his left forearm in the loss to Florida State, Van Dyke actually regained his position as the starting quarterback.

It made sense to Tyler Van Dyke to switch positions for the 2024 college football season. Van Dyke completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 2,703 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions just in 2023. Given that Van Dyke is not very mobile, it will be interesting to see how he performs in Phil Longo’s offense the following season.

Prior to getting hurt, Tanner Mordecai was the starting quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers after transferring from SMU. Wisconsin didn’t get what they wanted out of it. In 2024, Tyler Van Dyke should be able to perform better than Mordecai did this season.

Some of the other quarterbacks in the room for the Badgers are Braedyn Locke (did start three games for the Wisconsin Badgers this season for them), Nick Evers, Cole LaCrue, and incoming freshman Mabrey Mettauer. It is a good thing that Tyler Van Dyke transferred to the Wisconsin Badgers because it is clear who will be the starting quarterback for Luke Fickell’s squad in 2024.

Wisconsin Badgers Fans React to Tyler Van Dyke Committing

Van Dyke committing to Wisconsin for the 2024 season came out of nowhere. He has a lot to prove next season after transferring from the Miami Hurricanes. A lot of people reacted on Twitter to the Badgers bringing him in for next season.

The last time that the Badgers won the BIG10 title was in 2012. They won it in 2011 also when Russell Wilson was the transfer quarterback from North Carolina State. Wisconsin hopes Van Dyke can have the same success, but it appears as if the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Penn State Nittany Lions, and the Michigan Wolverines will be better than them next season at least.

Van Dyke will have a chip on his shoulder. He hopes to have success with the Badgers in 2024.
