If there is any downside to the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl, it is that many believed it would be difficult for them to have a very good 2024 NFL Draft. With their first two picks coming in 32nd and 63rd overall the Chiefs certainly made the best of it and picked up two key players that could very well put them in position to win a third Super Bowl in a row.
The nice thing about the Chiefs is that they already have so many pieces in place that they don’t need to add a ton of all-star kind of players, rather they need to sure up a few positions and work on depth on areas where they could be in trouble if a few players go down with injuries (or continue to get in trouble with the law).
So far, they have addressed those issues and concerns despite having what on the surface appear to be really bad selection spots.

First, the Kansas City Chiefs traded up in the draft to ensure that they could pick up Texas Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy. Last year, if there was one very obvious flaw with the Chiefs, it was the lack of talent that they had with their wide receivers. Kadarius Toney literally lost the Chiefs two games (dropping a wide open bomb and being offsides before a go-ahead touchdown), Rashee Rice was a nice receiver but has had issues off the field with the law this off season, and no other receiver over 500 yards, the Chiefs were in many ways almost completely dependent on the success of TE Travis Kelce.
It’s impossible to project how well a receiver will adjust to the pace and physicality of the NFL, but Worthy seems to have all the skills and intangibles to be the missing piece the Chiefs need on the outside. If Worthy can be an elite receiver, it will only open up more opportunities for Travis Kelce to be even more dangerous in the offense.

Andy Reid loves his Alma mater. Over the years, he has picked up a lot players from BYU including Daniel Sorenson, Matt Bushman, Zayne Anderson, Michael Davis, and Aleva Hifo to name a few. Offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia can be added to that list, but unlike other players who ended up as special teams players or practice squad guys, Suamataia could end up being Patrick Mahomes’ best friend.
Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs ranked 7th in the NFL among offensive lines according to Pro Football Network, but with Patrick Mahomes in the backfield, the Chiefs would like to see that ranking move up even higher. Mahomes was sacked 32 times which was middle of the pack in the NFL.
Kingsley Suamataia is the perfect draft pick to improve this. In his two years at BYU, Suamataia only allowed two sacks in 24 games played. Allowing only one sack every twelve games is the kind of protection that the Chiefs would love to have from every offensive lineman.
