Question: Will Buffalo Sabres cast-offs help turn around Amerks pedestrian season?

Eric Comrie is the most recent waiver player from the Buffalo Sabres, who was released from waivers before returning to the Rochester Americans.
Comrie joins players like Jacob Bryson and Tyson Jost as the latest NHL immigrants on an Amerks team currently filled with young and experienced veteran talent.
Heading into the 2023-24 season, Riley Stillman has become an anomaly in the Sabres’ defensive rotation, becoming the first veteran to return to the Americans.
Stillman has only picked up three points in 27 games this season, but he’s been showing his usual physical form and that should continue throughout the year.
Jacob Bryson was a healthy scratch for most of his 2023-24 season for the Sabers, and in six games he scored one point and earned a plus-1 rating.
Like Stillman, Bryson isn’t a leading scorer, but he’s a good skater who should help in the transition game.
Departing from the Buffalo Sabres should help Amerk turn things around.
Tyson Jost realized he was an underdog after the Sabers traded for Eric Robinson, and then he started getting healthy.
This forced general manager Kevin Adams to fire Jost, and he was traded to Rochester.
In just two games for the USA this season, Jost has already scored three goals and scored two goals.
A player like Jost should thrive in the minor leagues, but if he suffers another injury, we may not see the last of him in a Buffalo Sabers uniform.
Finally, there’s Eric Comrie, who used to make a living in the AHL.
Last season, Comrie landed in Rochester on a renewal assignment and finished 1-2-0 with a 3.
03 GAA and .
898 save percentage.
However, he most recently received extended playing time in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose during the 2019-20 season.
During that time, he had one shutout, a .
918 save percentage, and a 2.
51 GAA, despite only posting a 6-9-0 record.
Given the experience of all of the above players, it’s not a stretch to believe they can help turn the Rochester Americans’ season around.
And if the Americans get leading scorer Jiri Klich back, it could be fun to watch.
