PITTSBURGH — Former Super Bowl Champion and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Clark Haggans has passed away at the age of 46, according to 93.7 The Fan’s Collin Dunlap.

Haggans was a fifth-round pick out of Colorado State by the Steelers in 2000 and a member of the 2006 Super Bowl XL championship team. He retired in 2013. The cause of his death has not been reported.

Haggans entered the league as a special teams/reserve player for the Steelers at outside linebacker, starting just four games during his rookie contract. After Jason Gildon’s departure, Haggans took over at the starter opposite of Joey Porter, starting 57 games over the next four seasons.

He finished his Steelers career with 332 tackles and 32.5 sacks.

After leaving the Steelers in free agency in 2008, he spent the next four years with the Arizona Cardinals, and was on the roster when they played the Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII, but was on Injured Reserve. He played his final season with the San Francisco 49ers, making one last Super Bowl run in 2012 when the team lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
