Mr. Francis, 70, and Richard McSpadden, 63, both died on Sunday afternoon when their small plane crashed after taking off from an airport in upstate New York. Mr. Francis was an NFL player who played for the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers.
The Cessna 177 plane “encountered trouble” and crashed into an embankment at Lake Placid Airport’s corner shortly after departing the runway, according to the New York State Police.

Mr Francis, who won the Super Bowl with the 49ers in 1985, was leader of Lake Peaceful Aviation routes, which runs contract and grand flights, and had been a certified pilot for almost 50 years, as per NBC News.

He played tight end for both the 49ers and Loyalists for a sum of 13 seasons, making the last option’s Master Bowl choice for three straight seasons from 1977-79.
In an explanation, the 49ers said they were “disheartened to learn of the heartbreaking passing”, adding: ” We send our most profound sympathies to the Francis family during this troublesome time.”

Mr Francis joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1982 and was essential for the group that beat Miami in the Super Bowl in January 1985.

He got back to New Britain in 1987 and resigned the year in the wake of, having made a lifelong complete of 393 gets for 5,262 yards and scored 40 scores.

For the Patriots, Mr. Francis is 21st all-time in catches and 16th in receiving yards, while for the 49ers, he is 30th and 32nd in those two categories.
