CINCINNATI (AP) — In a range of six days, Jake Searing has gone from Joe Tunnel’s mostly secret reinforcement to the possible hero of the Bengals’ season.

Making his third NFL start, the 27-year-old Cooking was extraordinary again on Sunday, tossing two score passes and scrambling for a score as Cincinnati beat the Indianapolis Foals 34-14.

With Tunnel out for the season with a wrist injury, the Bengals appeared to be at risk for slipping into immateriality prior to Cooking tossed for 354 yards and a score in a success at Jacksonville last Monday night.
